DAYTIME DESTINATIONS

There are two Mayan ruins each located 7 miles from the farm.

El Pilar one of the largest sites, is still in the early stages of excavation. The nature trails provide insight into the agro-forestry of the Mayan people. The flora and fauna are not to be missed.

Xunantunich offers the largest temple, El Castillo, which rises 130 ft. above the main plaza. The view is exquisite and spans the Cayo district and Guatemala. The site houses an impressive museum with three stelae's. Open daily 8-4 Us $2.50 p.p.

Bird watching in Cayo. More then 600 species live year round in Belize. Canoe trips along the Mopan and Macal River are a must, the wildlife is abundant.

Blue Hole and Saint Herman's Cave are located 12 miles southeast of Belmopan on the Hummingbird Highway. The pool emerges from a collapsed karst sinkhole. Its sapphire water is always refreshing after the hike into the 60 ft. wide entrance of the cave, which is about 1/2 mile to the exit. The hike to the observation tower is a challenge, but worth the view. Open daily 8 am - 4 pm. You NEED a good flashlight!

Masewell Forest Garden trail located on Paslow Falls Rd. just a 10 minute walk from the farm, Don Betto , Mayan Shaman and Herbalist ( who is also our neighbor) will walk you back through time with the knowledge of traditional healing and medicinal plant use. Their are 15 acres of trails and forest gardens.

Both the Mopan river and the Macal river are a great source of adventure for canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and a lot of swimming!

The Belize Zoo, located 29 1/2 miles west of Belize City, off of the Western Highway. Open daily 9:30-4:00 pm Admission fee $5.00 US. Great place to view the wildlife for kids and adults.

Tikal, located less than 2 hours away in neighboring Guatemala, is one of the most popular Mayan ruins in Central America.
